Leuchtturm

Starless, without a lantern, the night blast away
Let the leaves shift and turn
Gambled away part, squandered the rest
And still no end in sight

Everything’s black
Just the schnaps burns bright
My hand isn’t empty
As long as it’s holding yours

We’re heading in unknown direction
But we don’t see any land
Where a light was yesterday
No more light is visible today
Did our lighthouse burn out?

Because we don’t see any land
Because everything’s at stake
And nobody knows anymore how the game goes
And nobody knows where to
Did our lighthouse burn out?

Ship lights shine for us in vain
A cone of light in the fog
There’s no goal, no horizon
No other sail in sight

The team onboard
Breathes tired and heavy
Nobody says a word
The sea riots around us

We’re heading in unknown direction …

Until the sun comes up again
As long as it takes for the rush to subside
We’ll stay together

But we don’t see any land …
