Between the stars that sparkle in the night sky
we draw pictures, play Paint by Number
we doodle stellar figures in the universe
for a little structure

We discover the world and bring it to paper
latitudes and longitudes separate the There from the Here
borders and walls separate the Them from the Us
we only do it
for a little structure

But what if none of it is real?
if our view of the world is just a picture and not the world?
but what if reality really goes totally different?

We take the time and cut it small
until nothing of it remains except dates and deadlines
position our lives after calendars and clocks
for a little structure

If the poor one wasn’t poor, if the rich one wasn’t rich
if the one wasn’t different, if the others weren’t the same
we draw straight strokes through our middles
we only do it
for a little structure

But what if none of it is real …
